Adolphe Pétérelle. 1874-1947. Histoire de l’archéologie illustrated by the myth ofAdolphe Ptrelle is a unique painter who can be linked to the Expressionist movement, even though he always claimed his independence from any school. Born in 1874 in Geneva, Ptrelle arrived in Paris in 1891. He settled in Montmartre in a studio at the Bateau Lavoir, which he left in 1908 for the Cit Falguire, where he worked until his death in 1947.
